Abstract
Poster presentation investigating, in 7 male and 7 female participants, the effect of an unstable load (liquid vs. solid, matched weight) and its interaction with the NIOSH lifting-equation multiplier factors (vertical and horizontal distance, asymmetry) on the RMS EMG activity of ten trunk muscles during manual lifting tasks. The mixed-design ANOVA revealed that unstable loads influenced trunk muscle intervention, underscoring a limitation of the revised NIOSH lifting equation, which does not account for load instability.
