Abstract
Poster presentation on the contribution of visual input to postural stability in eight individuals with Down syndrome (25.3 ± 7.9 years), who performed Romberg’s test with eyes open, eyes closed, and with visual feedback of their center of pressure on a strain-gauge force plate. Significant differences in postural sway were found across the three conditions, indicating that individuals with Down syndrome rely on visual information to reduce body sway, and that this sway decreases considerably when visual input is enhanced through continuous feedback.
