Abstract
Podium presentation applying the uncontrolled manifold (UCM) hypothesis to eight experienced surgeons performing conventional laparoscopy (LAP) and laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS), examining how the two approaches affect redundancy exploitation for head-movement stabilization. Surgeons’ posture was recorded with two HD video cameras and processed in MaxTRAQ; a positive synergy index indicated that covariation of upper-limb joint angles stabilizes head posture in the anterior-posterior direction, with no statistically significant difference in synergy index between the LAP and LESS approaches.
