Abstract
Podium presentation applying the uncontrolled manifold (UCM) hypothesis to nine patients with spastic diplegia, analyzing the stability of head position during the heel-strike and toe-off events of the gait cycle. Full-body kinematics were collected with a Simi Reality Motion Systems capture system, and the synergy index (V_UCM/V_ORT) was computed to quantify whether lower-limb and trunk joints formed synergies to stabilize the head. Significant differences between the sagittal and frontal planes were found, offering a potential window onto the motor control mechanisms relevant to therapeutic planning in spastic diplegia.
