Abstract
The 21st century presents a unique opportunity for Adapted Physical Activity to take a central role in sport science and physical education. Rising global levels of physical inactivity — disproportionately affecting individuals with disabilities — combined with population aging and increased life expectancy, highlight an urgent need for accessible, evidence-based physical activity services and injury-prevention strategies. Biomechanics is a core scientific discipline within kinesiology and sports medicine, dedicated to the analysis of human movement through the principles of mechanics. Bringing these domains together, biomechanical analysis provides critical insights into injury prevention, rehabilitation, performance optimization, and the development of assistive and adaptive technologies. This integrative approach informs my research, teaching, and translational work across adapted physical activity, motor neuroscience, and applied biomechanics.
