Análisis del Control Postural mediante Estudios Estabilométricos en Personas con Síndrome de Down

Communication presenting a stabilometric study of postural control in eight individuals with Down syndrome (16–28 years), who performed Romberg tests with eyes open and eyes closed on a force plate. Center-of-pressure trajectories were decomposed into a Rambling component, reflecting central-nervous-system–regulated postural control, and a Trembling component, reflecting instability attributable to physiological reflexes and mechanical structural properties. Visual input was found to influence the Rambling trajectory but not the center-of-pressure or Trembling trajectories, suggesting that rehabilitation programs for individuals with Down syndrome should place greater emphasis on exercises promoting cognitive processes rather than motor pattern execution alone.
